Drawn from just seven casks of delicate whisky subject to full-term sherry maturation, the spirit reflects the inimitable character of one of Scotland’s best-loved distilleries. this limited edition 30-year-old by Bruichladdich is part of their rare cask series. The single malt was distilled in 1986 and filled into oloroso sherry butts, then moved over to Pedro ximenéz butts from winemaker Jan Pettersen at bodega Fernando de Castilla by previous master distiller Jim McEwan in 2012 for the rest of its maturation.

Like its island neighbor Bunnahabhain distillery, Bruichladdich has traditionally been an un-peated single malt, mostly owing to its requirements by the blenders who owned it. The last of these was Whyte & Mackay, who eventually shut it down in 1995, deeming it surplus to requirements. The magnificent seven” expression is comprised of seven casks of delicate, floral Bruichladdich that have been subject to intense, full-term sherry maturation.
Nose: dried fruit – raisins, prunes, and Christmas cake.
Palate: sweet px notes, raisins, dried figs, dates, grape sugar. Leather, cigar boxes, and Christmas cake. The complexity and balance are retained as the marine freshness and fruity notes of apricot and apple come through from the Bruichladdich DNA.

Dried fruit – raisins, fig syrup, prunes, and Christmas cake. Muscovado sugar, a hint of hot sand and candied peel, dried tea leaves, pipe tobacco, and leather rolled in px.
Sweet px notes, raisins, dried figs, dates, grape sugar. Leather, cigar boxes, and Christmas cake. Everything a sherry-matured whisky should be and more. The complexity and balance are retained as the marine freshness and fruity notes of apricot and apple come through from the Bruichladdich DNA.
