William Larue Weller Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey the William Larue Weller is the winner this year, and it is a part of the yearly Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, which is eagerly awaited. Four expressions from the collection—the Eagle Rare 17-year-old, Sazerac Rye 18-year-old, William Larue Weller, Thomas H. Hardy Rye, and George T. Stagg—are released each year.

A heated bourbon made in 2005 and released in the fall of 2017 is the winner in this comparison. This year’s William Larue Weller is silky and creamy, bursting with aromas of caramel, marshmallows, and vanilla. It is named after a distiller who is credited with being the first to substitute wheat for rye in the mash bill. On the palate, pepper and spices appear, and the sweetness from the nose lingers until the lengthy finish. Sadly, there are already no more copies available.

Single Cask of the Year

The Blanton’s Gold Edition Single Barrel is a winner and a well-known brand in the bourbon industry.

Tasting Notes

Sweet aromas of pipe tobacco, fresh leather, plums, and caramel corn. The palate has flavors of nougat, figs, dates, salted almonds, and marshmallows. This whiskey has a calm, collected and flavorfully sweet finish.

The Collection has its high and poor spots as usual, but overall, this collection of whiskeys is impressive. My weak point remains to be the Handy. Although I am aware of the brand’s “position” in Sazerac’s history, it does not seem to be worth the price because it is too raw and young-looking in comparison to the others. The Sazerac 18 and Eagle Rare 17 don’t contain many surprises, but both are worthwhile to seek out, particularly the Sazerac 18, which is always fantastic. So does the Stagg, albeit I was a touch let down this year by this consistently excellent bourbon. Although it was very, very good, it lacked the preceding years’ peak performances’ wild edge. the undisputed champion for me this year
